A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Dual Time – a Functional Aesthetic Beauty

February 14th, 2011

The new Sohne Saxonial Dual Time of A. Lange & Sohne turns out to be a functional aesthetic beauty for many watch lovers.

How is the Saxonia Dual Time functional?
Firstly, it has its push pieces located at eight and ten o’clock. This design enables the hour hand in the main dial be set advanced or moved back in one hour increments. When the push piece at 8 o’clock is pressed once, the hour hand would go forward by one hour. In the case of pressing the push piece at 10 o’clock once, you’ll see the hour hand would be moved anti-clockwisely by one hour. Under such circumstances, the movement of the hour hand would not disturb the performance of the minutes or seconds so as to keep the accurate time.

Then, the 24-hour subdial below 12 o’clock distinctively tells the owner the time at home when he is in a different time zone.

Further, the new timepiece houses a self-winding caliber L086.2. The manually engraved balance cock and the indexless oscillation system included in the movement exhibits Lange’s quality hallmarks. Consisting of 268 units and being decorated by 31 jewels, the movement could reserve power to 72 hours when fully wound. It is both grand and powerful.

Other functions of the watch are the hours and minutes display, subsidiary seconds display with stop seconds and day/night indication etc. They prove the Saxonia Dual Time a functional piece.

Besides the practical functions, the Saxonia Dual Time is an aesthetic beauty too. It is available in two versions, namely the pink gold and the white gold one. It is a delicate small piece with a 40mm case which covers a clear cut strip indexed dial. The blue hour marker is very eye catching in the solid silver dial. The exquisite movement could be viewed clearly through the sapphire crystal caseback.

The price for the pink gold one is $25,400 while the white gold one requires $26,600 in the United States.
