On Dec.25th, I went to a Christmas party with Xiao and Mary and we had a lot of fun there. At 2:20 p.m. Mary picked me up and we drove about 50 minutes and got to her brother’s house , stayed in her brother’s for about one hour and went to her brother’s mother-in-law’s house, which was just a few steps away from his and there were the family members already awaiting us.

After greetings to each other , we had a short chat about Christmas and exchanged ideas of different cultures between China and the USA. At about 6 o’clock we sat around the table and began the Christmas dinner and I knew almost every festival features a big meal and of course Xmas should not be an exeption and actually it shall be a much bigger one for it is regarded as the most important festa in the States.I had a good eating and plenty of assorted food really  filled me.

The old couple were both in their 70s but they liked life so much and the house was well decorated,and the Xmas tree surely was the most gorgeous in the house and so we had several pictures taken prior to it.

After dinner came our exchange gifts time. Each family, as promised in advance, should h**e brought a gift worth 30 dollars for exchange, which sounded new to me.Tom, Mary’s brother wrote the numbers for the order to pick out the gifts.Iwas a bit unlucky and got No.12 and there were 12 people in all.So I had to wait for my turn.

Everyone got his own gift gladly and unwrapped it just thereby. When the old grandfather unwrapped his gift, there broke out a long laughter, for he got a lady’s night gown. Though it looked so nice a gift, it was in fact no use for him. What he said made us laugh and laugh. He accounted that his wife Helen( grandma) never wore anything to sleep with him and they liked nakedness at night. It was out of my expectation that the old man turned to me and said,”Jian, it’s just your size.” The usually quite man could be so humorous at the happy time.

I got two discs at last and I like them very much.
